Description: Join Horticulturist Gregg Tepper for an entertaining and enjoyable presentation that celebrates gardening in the shade. Gregg will share his nearly 35 years of shade gardening experience ranging from unique approaches and an effective plant palette to helpful tips and thoughtful design advice.

Bio: Gregg Tepper is the Senior Horticulturist at Laurel Hill Arboretum in Philadelphia, PA where he manages various display and area gardens as well as various container plantings throughout the property. Since childhood Gregg spent years creating his own ornamental and native plant gardens where he grew up in Delaware County, PA. His early interest in plants and gardens brought him to pursue Ornamental Horticulture at the University of Delaware and thereafter started a horticultural maintenance business designing and managing private gardens in southeast Pennsylvania and northern Delaware. Gregg went on to work at Mt. Cuba Center, a public garden in Hockessin, DE where he held the positions of Horticulturist, Woods Path Horticulturist and Director of Horticulture. From there he was Director of Horticulture and board member of Delaware Botanic Gardens in Dagsboro, DE. He was instrumental in developing its initial horticultural mission, leading the garden steward volunteer program, and implementing a two-acre meadow designed by world-renown garden designer Piet Oudolf. Gregg has lectured extensively in the United States as well as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and Wisley in Great Britain. He is co-author of the book “Deer-resistant Native Plants for the Northeast” and he has begun the outline on his next book “The Sensory Appeal of Native Plants”.
